Prehistoric spokeshaves were made of stone. The term spokeshave is used to describe a tool, usually a uniface ( has been flaked on one surface only ), that has at least one retouched lunate ( crescent or moon-shaped ) notch in one edge.Used to shape and smooth wooden rods and shafts.
